RESIDENCE Montecito, California

Completed in 1994 this home is located in the foothills above Montecito and oriented to take advantage of the spectacular ocean and island views. Organized around a south-facing courtyard, the house is composed of simple, steep hip-roofed forms with traditional French Renaissance details. The main gallery creates the major axis connecting the family room and pool terrace to the east with the living room to the west. Rich plaster detailing around the front door and facade is the focus of the entrance courtyard. In contrast, the garden elevations are less formal and exude more the scale of a small country chateau.
